She is certified by the Royal college of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, the Canadian Coaching Federation, the Daring Way-TM facilitator program of Dr. Brene Brown, and the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. She is a Consultant Psychiatrist, and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, where she treats patients, trains residents, teaches medical students and does research. She has presented at international conferences and has several awards and publications including two books.
Dr. Wid is interested in spirituality and psychology and in Islamic psychology; a space between psychology and spirituality where meaning, feelings and experiences can be integrated in a whole person approach. In her teaching and learning, she uses an experiential learning method that is grounded in traditional Islamic sciences such as “tazkia” and modern educational and applied psychology, in a way that helps people heal and grow in a safe, accessible, and familiar way.
With her subspeciality in women’s mental health, she enjoys working with women in individuals and group settings, to work with them on career, family, motherhood and self-care. She enjoys writing and has a poetry book: So Many Hats (or Veils), which explores identity and the different roles we play, and masks or hats we wear, and how to integrate them.
